Matt holds a BA in physics from the University of Chicago and a PhD in mathematics from Vanderbilt University where he studied potential theory. While a graduate student, Matt won an award for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Matt is interested in how children absorb new mathematical concepts, and how play and creativity contribute to learning. Matt has worked in a number of technical positions, including time at LANL as a technical staff member. Matt is an avid mountain biker and skier. At the day camp, Matt is leading math kangaroo and math circles activities.
